- who we are
The enormous burden of psychiatric disorders creates an urgent need for developing new treatments. In our lab we are inspired by the increasing evidence for a role of neuroimmune mechanisms in the pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders. Immune modulatory therapies have been ground-breaking for the outcome of many different types of diseases, and it is our mission to explore whether this direction can also favour patients with psychiatric diseases.
The overarching aim of our lab is to identify immune-related mechanisms and treatments of mental illnesses. We approach this aim from three different angles:
We currently are a team of 7 researchers. We are located at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, USA; and at the Radboud UMC in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
